Harford County, MD has federally funded grants available, thanks to federal funding, to help businesses impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and related shutdowns. There are three separate grant programs available:
- #SmallBusiness relief Grants – up to $7,500 to eligible small businesses with between 2 and 50 full time equivalent employees with under $5 million in 2019 revenue. The list of eligible expenses is broad but there is a special emphasis on expenses incurred to reopen, to adapt to the “new normal”, or to facilitate telework or similar solutions.
- #HomegrownHarford Farm Relief – up to $2,500 each to eligible farming businesses with 10+ acres primarily used and/or zoned for agriculture.
- #BusinessOwnersAssistance grants of up to $5,000 for almost any business enterprise in the County in good standing which owns, leases, or rents a commercial bricks and mortar location. Funds are to be used for commercial business mortgage or commercial facility lease or rent payments during the applicable period. The application for this third grant program has just been released and will not be accepted before June 10.
Receiving federal assistance such as a Payroll Protection Program loan does NOT preclude receiving a County grant, but the same expenses cannot be reimbursed by both programs.
Businesses can only receive funding from one program, but if a Small Business grant was applied for but not received, that applicant CAN now apply for the Business Owners’ Assistance Program.
